ABOUT ME
My name is Zinhle Ngema - friends, family and non-Zulu speakers call me Zee :) I’m a South African journalist, content specialist, and musician.
I moved to New York City in 2019 and graduated with a Master’s degree in 2020. Prior to that, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in English and Communication Science College while still living in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Over the last five years I’ve worked as a staff writer, social media reporter and host for OkayAfrica which has allowed me to become a bridge between Africa and her diaspora.
In addition to on-camera work, I have a podcast called ‘Diaspora Whores’! I host, and emcee events, and moderate panels.
I sing, play the piano, and guitar. I sew and make my own clothing, too! I also love to cook, bake, and play video games!
